Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Whale Alerts collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit whale-alerts.com, create an account, contact us, or use our dashboards, alerts, billing flows, and related services.

It is written to match the product we actually operate today, including Google sign-in, session cookies, site analytics, support requests, and Creem-powered billing.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, email address, support request details, and any information you submit through our contact or support forms.

If you sign in with Google, we may receive profile data such as your email address, display name, Google account identifier, profile image, and basic account-verification attributes required to create or update your account.

If you purchase or use a paid plan, we receive subscription and transaction metadata related to your account, such as your plan, billing status, renewal or expiration dates, payment provider customer and subscription identifiers, and checkout session references. We do not store your full card number or full payment credentials on our servers.

We also collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, timestamps, referring pages, and interaction events needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Cookies, sessions, and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, maintain session state, remember essential preferences, and help protect accounts against misuse.

We also use analytics and product-measurement tools, including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, to understand traffic, diagnose issues, and improve site performance and user experience.

You can control some cookie behavior through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the service from working correctly.

How we use information

We use information we collect to:

  • provide, secure, and maintain the Whale Alerts site, dashboard, alerts, and APIs;
  • authenticate users and manage accounts, sessions, and profile settings;
  • process support, onboarding, and account-related requests;
  • enable subscriptions, billing access, renewals, and plan enforcement;
  • measure product usage, troubleshoot errors, and improve our services;
  • detect abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, or violations of our terms; and
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

Payments and billing

Paid checkouts and subscription billing are handled through Creem, which acts as the merchant of record for eligible transactions. Creem may collect payment information directly from you and may send us billing-related metadata needed to activate, manage, and reconcile your subscription.

Creem may also send transaction emails, billing notifications, and subscription management links directly to customers as part of its merchant-of-record and compliance obligations.

How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Creem for payment processing, subscription management, tax handling, and billing support;
  • Google when you choose Google sign-in;
  • analytics and measurement providers such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity;
  • service providers and infrastructure partners that help us host, secure, and operate the service; and
  • legal or regulatory authorities when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or systems.

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not publish your private account or billing data to other users.

Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain account history, process billing, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and satisfy legal, tax, security, and recordkeeping obligations.

Some data may remain in backups, audit logs, or financial records for a longer period when required for compliance or security reasons.

Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us through our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

You can also use your browser controls to manage cookies and may stop using the service at any time. If you have a paid subscription, cancellation is handled through Creem's subscription management flow and our support process as described in our Terms of Service.

We may retain limited information where necessary to complete transactions, prevent fraud, maintain required records, or comply with law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-party services and links

Our site and service may link to third-party websites or use third-party providers for authentication, payments, analytics, or communications. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.

Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, security, or operational changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
